Apple have done a slew of announcements this week starting off with the Leopard, iPhone in France + Unlocked, iTunes+ songs getting cheaper and more of them and finally 3rd Party App’s! on the iPhone.
Leopard

I know I have already covered this in some detail. I thought I would add it to the list and say a bit more. This for those that do not know this is Apple’s newest OS it will be launched on October 26th so start saving up.
iTunes+

iTunes+ is Apples DRM free iTunes service. Recently there have being a lot of new DRM free services mostly supported by Universal a few examples of these are the soon to appear new Zune Market Place and the Amazon MP3 Market. iTunes+ is now the largest DRM free music store. Apple also announced that they would also be dropping the price to $0.99.
iPhone in France and Unlocking
Apple finally announced a date for the iPhone in France the 29th November. They were having problems getting it in to France because the French law says that any Phone sold must be Unlocked. Apple have partnered with Orange, and will sell the iPhone for €399 and they will be selling an Unlocked version this will only happen in France sadly. On the plus side the 1.1.1 software has being cracked and you can now install app’s.
3rd Party App’s SDK
Now this is big finally Apple have announced that they will allow 3rd party app’s on the iPhone and will release a public SDK. This opens up a load of options for them and gets rid of a whole lot of iPhone haters s,o we can all live in piece. Sadly on the weekend I wrote a blog post to go up this week and I was going to put that up today but no Apple go and say lets do iPhone app’s and really annoy Rupert. Steve Jobs wrote a letter on Apples site to talk to the public to explain the change in heart. In his letter he writes why they did not do it, because they did not wan the iPhone to get malware etc… But what I find most interesting is this bit
P.S. The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch. [Oct 17, 2007]
This makes me very excited about getting the iPod touch because it means I will be able to tap into the large App base of the iPhone
Conclusion
This has been one mega week for Apple announcements. With all these new things we are spoilt. These past weeks have being great for Apple news from iLife 08′ to 3rd Party App’s for the iPhone. All these announcements have being great improvements in Apples product line.

Great post Maz – I’m really looking forward to Leopard.
I think opening up the iPhone and iTouch for 3rd party apps will win Apple lots of friends and boost sales.
