How much of a revolution is Time Capsule? not may people ask this question but I think Time Capsule is a evolution but not a revolution. The Idea of backing up wirelessly over you network is extremely cool and a very complex idea, but it is not new. You can find network drives and use bits of software to backup over your network but it is way to complex and time consuming to setup, for the average consumer. When Leopard was about to be released Apple touted its Time Machine which according to the specs could back up to a network drive, this was promptly removed just before it’s release.
At Macworld they announced Time Capsule an easy way to back up all your data over your network wirelessly. Time Capsule acts as a router as well as a network drive. Apple claims it works seamlessly with any Apple computer running 10.5 through Time Machine and you know what I have yet to hear contrary to that. But lets be honest here is there any kind of vodoo going on?? No it is just a plain drive that is shared on the network and Time Machine can backup to it. You are not able to partition or format the drive inside but you can do some of the basic functions. But still I think this rocks, it is just so easy. The one pain I have with my Laptop is that I have to plug it in to backup. There is also another nice feature that allows you to plug in a USB drive ans use that so essentially you could use a Drobo to have a huge backup and a Network drive.
I think that Time Calsule is a evelutonary product not a revolution.

Time Capsule is a revolution. Because it is the first NAS that I have actually bought… Anybody can buy a Time Capsule and get it work.
@Jonathan I see what you mean but now you can just plug in a USB into the Airport, what is the point
