In the old days people got out there slides to do a slideshow hence the name, but since then we have come a long way and if you want high quality slideshow now the best app out there has to be Photopresenter and this is why.
Photopresenter has full integration with the iLife suite so it is a simple clip and drag for iLife and all other photo’s. Photopresenter offers you the basic slideshow with fades between slides, and music in the background. They also offer a huge choice of animated slide shows such as the iTunes city, Apple TV’s intro, coverflow and loads of others. If I want a good looking slideshow it is were I go. It is extremely easy to create dynamic slideshows in seconds and I mean seconds. Yes iPhoto can do slideshows but nowhere near this standard. I think I downloaded it as a trial once and thought it was really cool. I didn’t buy it though.

I tested Photopresenter. It’s really hand to show quickly picture to people, instead of going from directories to directories. I’m not using iPhoto at all. Hopefully Photopresenter can handle displaying directories from the disk
How ever, I noticed that refreshing the default directory is crashing the Apps. Did you experience the same ?
